Widdall Architects has the experience to provide the full range of architectural services for new construction, renovation of existing structures, restoration and historic preservation, and adaptive reuse. Our projects range from less than 1,000 square feet to more than 100,000 square feet, with project budgets from less than $20,000 to more than $10 million.
Widdall Architects has more than 11 years of experience in guiding healthcare projects through design and construction. We understand and implement the code requirements of those projects that come under the jurisdiction of the Pennsylvania Department of Health, ICRA, and HIPAA.
Scott Widdall operates the firm with the idea that an efficient office with an exerienced staff and low overhead can deliver exceptional service and a high-quality product for a lower cost than the firm larger competitors.
The firm provides architectural services tailored to the needs of the specific client. Some clients need only the experience and knowledge of the firm to guide it through a planning or feasibility study. Other clients desire a full range of services including the development of a building design, the creation of construction documents, the administration of the construction contract, and periodic construction site reviews.
The firm management philosophy is that each project is overseen by the Architect in Charge. This Architect is responsible for the project from beginning to end and remains the primary contact person through all phases of design and construction. The Architects review all designs, reports, and construction documents before they are sent out of the office, and work in very close association with the firm project managers. The Architects management philosophy includes keeping themselves fully updated on all projects and making themselves available to the client directly at any time, should there be any concerns or questions.
The office is comprised of a skilled staff including two registered architects with over seventeen years of combined experience in the design of educational, health-care and long term-care facilities, hotels, offices, municipal buildings, and commercial spaces. Together with its experienced drafting and clerical staff, the firm architects work to complete all projects on time and on budget. The individuals responsible for the design of a particular project continue following the project through construction, keeping the knowledge gained in the design process available to the contractor in the field, and insuring that the Owner needs and desires are fully translated into the physical components of steel, brick, glass and mortar. Part of the firm's management philosophy is that by keeping the same staff members involved throughout a project, the individuals develop a deep understanding of the project as well as a personal interest in seeing that it meets its full potential. At the same time, this philosophy reduces costs by eliminating the learning curve required if there were the constant changes in staffing so common in many architectural firms today.
The firm also enjoys positive, long-term relationships with many noteworthy companies and institutions in and around Lancaster County, including Millersville University, Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster General Hospital-Susquehanna Division, Bryn Mawr Hospital, Lancaster Newspapers, Ephrata Community Hospital and Masonic Homes.
